Events in the Park

A celebration of food and wine featuring the participation of 56 wineries and their winemakers, this festival features the best venue to learn about and taste how Colorado’s wine scene has matured over the past 19 years. Meet winemakers, cheese makers, peach growers, painters, ice carvers, chefs, and Bacchus; and feel what it’s like to stomp grapes. A specially designated tent to store your wine purchases will be available.

Best of Fest

2011 Best of Fest Results

Free – Pick up judging results from the professional winemaking competition at the C.A.V.E. retail booth. You can taste and buy winning wines at the winery booths. Sponsored by Moody-Valley Insurance Agency.

Chef Demonstrations

The Colorado Mountain Winefest brings two of the best to headline the chef demonstrations. From SALT, a true bistro-style neighborhood restaurant in Boulder, Colorado, Executive Chef Kevin Kidd and Beverage Manager Evan Faber will demonstrate the best in Colorado food and wine pairings. Event attendees will learn how to make the best fresh and local pairings from these advocates of Colorado-grown food and wine.

Chef Wayne Smith


Wayne Smith, CEC CCE, Assistant Technical Professor, Culinary Arts, Western Colorado Community College

Wayne Smith is a chef instructor at Western Colorado Community College where he has taught for nearly 14 years. Prior to his career in education he was the chef proprietor of Grits Good Food Restaurant in Grand Junction, CO where the menu made use of many great Colorado products including beef, lamb, and fresh produce from nearby farms. Grits was known for its eclectic, affordable menu and exclusively Colorado wine list. Prior to restaurant ownership Chef Smith worked in San Diego, Hawaii, and Durango.

When he is not in the kitchen you will likely find the chef on the golf course, mountain bike trail, ski hill, fly-fishing stream or hiking with his dachshund, Ruby.

Chef Smith is an American Culinary Federation Certified Executive Chef and Certified Culinary Educator. He has twice been recognized by the Grand Junction Area Chamber of Commerce as an Outstanding Educator of the Year and is currently the President of the ACF Colorado Chefs Association.

Chef Elise Wiggins


Elise Wiggins, Executive Chef, Panzano

From her beginnings in Louisiana to Texas, through Colorado, Puerto Rico, Tennessee and now back to Colorado, Wiggins has purposely and progressively moved up through the ranks - all the time honing her kitchen skills, tasting new flavors, managing more people and developing the talents that have won fine dining awards and accolades.

Beginning with several kitchen jobs in Denver, including a stint as the chef of Bella Ristorante, a busy Southern Italian restaurant in Lower Downtown.

A five month trip through Central America followed her departure from Denver and she landed at the Westin Rio Mar Resort in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The Palio restaurant at this 5 Diamond resort. The restaurant earned a Mobil 4 Diamond rating during Elise's watch. This was followed by the chef position for the Capriccio Restaurant in the Peabody Hotel in Memphis.

Since making her way back to the Mile High City and Panzano, Elise has caused quite a stir. Chosen for 4 Diamond status for 2010-2011 by the American Automobile Association, Panzano has also been named Best Italian restaurant in Denver by Westword, "Heavenly" by the Gabby Gourmet Restaurant Guide and included in the Top Restaurants in Denver by 5280 magazine and Zagat Guides. 5280 magazine recognized Panzano's gluten free program as "Top of the Town." The American Culinary Federation named Elise 2005 Colorado Chef the Year.
