FORBES — When one thinks of American wine regions, it’s a given that places like Napa Valley, New York’s Finger Lakes and even Virginia may cross your mind. Colorado, while known for hiking, fishing and general outdoorsy lifestyle, probably doesn’t. Winemaking in the state has a few origins, while some may point their finger as it being an evolution of fruit wine, others note that it was hobbyists who turned serious. But, Colorado, and in particular the Grand Valley AVA, are upping the ante on American wine.
